We can not describe cultural production of contemporary cities only through the programmes placed in theatre houses, music halls, museums, galleries, clubs and other places which are directly associated with the term cultural venue. To make a picture of cultural production complete, it is important to include all practices which are placed out of common black or white cube, ones that enter and/or stay on the open public spaces, such as squares, streets, parks; but also use public space of facilities that do not have cultural function (hotels, malls, public transports etc.). Cultural production which takes place in public spaces include all kind of artistic and cultural expressions.

On one side here belong sculptures, monuments or decorative equipment of buildings which serve for adornment of urban places, special squares, places in front of public venues or corporate companies. On the other side is the art as a public space, such as parks, squares, boulevards, which bring artists, architects and urban planners in cooperation. Beside these practices, there are also so called non – sculpture, such as performances, street theatres, concerts etc. or more specific, contents generating places for entertainment. Among these groups, we can perceive separate sub-category of art in public space which use as a starting point public domain. These are artistic practices which are of the public interest. They focus on social problematics and urban environment, and they often include residents and various marginalized social groups.

Urban Affairs is a bilateral approach to addressing participating artists as well as interested visitors to identify uniqueness as well as similiarities among new artistic intersections in Street Art.

Operation:city was an experiment through which organisers wanted to see how different subjects from the Zagreb's cultural scene can function in the same public space.

Permanent Breakfast is an ongoing project that functions as a chain game. One person invites four people to enjoy a public breakfast.

Using modular structures, the artists build their own studios in a city square. These Mobile studios become a place for creation, discussion with the public, and reflection on the art system.

TriPolis is promoting art in public spaces. It runs in London, Barcelona and Brussels. The name of the project comes from the combination of “tri" - referring to the triadic nature of the project, and “polis" - the word German philosopher Hannah Arendt used for the public sphere.
